According to a report, a Resident Evil TV series is working to be on Netflix. This Resident Evil TV series, apparently still in the early stages, will be produced by the same company that was behind the movies, the German studio Constantin Film.
While the series will become more action-oriented as it continues, the early games are straight-up horror experiences, where the player must use limited resources to barely get by, running instead of shooting and sweating bullets during intense boss battles.
The Resident Evil film franchise launched in 2002 with the aptly named Resident Evil starring Jovovich. The movie saw five subsequent sequels, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Retribution, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. All directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, those six films together earned $1.2 billion worldwide, claiming to be the most successful video game film franchise ever.
If the Netflix series is confirmed, Resident Evil would not be Netflix’s first video game adaptation; there’s been the Castlevania animated series, of course, and the live-action The Witcher adaptation with Henry Cavill due to star as Geralt of Rivia and many more.
The news is already viral, and fans are expecting something good from Netflix.
