The Oculus Rift is finally coming to Viveport, HTC’s VR store. Viveport was launched back in 2016 but it was quite useless back then. Vive owners could easily find VR experiences on Steam. But last year, HTC added a subscription plan which would allow the users to grab five VR titles monthly for a low fee. It was originally $6.99 but now the subscription plan costs $8.99. Developers can choose to mark their games as Rift-compatible from today and the users will be able to use the service from September 4th. Viveport currently offers almost 500 games and VR experiences for HTC Vive headsets.

This offer may not look alluring on the surface but its actually a smart option for Oculus owners mainly because they have no such services available currently. The developers will be able to adopt more of their titles for Oculus Rift due to this new incentive. Viveport’s president Rikard Steibe said, “By adding support for Oculus Rift, we’re doubling the potential user base for Viveport developers.” The five titles are up for grabs free of charge for 14 days. This is a very generous offer on part of the Viveport team. If the users are not sure about this whole thing, they can give it a trial with the free 14 days subscription offer.

They have added small icons on every listing which will enable the users to see which titles are compatible with the Vive and Rift. Rift owners can play plenty of titles meant for the Vive via Steam. Oculus owners now can filter out the titles which do not work with their headsets. The service has nearly 500 titles available which include Seeking Dawn, Tilt Brush, and Knockout League. Their new subscription offer has made the company profit four times more than last year.
