Samsung presented the 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor that will be a part of the upcoming Samsung devices back in September 2021. Recently, in a video, the brand has revealed the capabilities of the sensor.
As of now, there is no phone that features the sensor, so Samsung integrated it into a prototype and used a large lens to capture multiple images.
Here, the object of photography was a white cat and the captured image was printed on a canvas, 28×22 metres in dimensions, via an industrial printer.
The canvas was further hung on a building. The whole point of the experiment was to prove the fact that you can click detailed pictures via the 200MP sensor and maximize them without losing the details of the photograph.
Talking about the technicalities, the Samsung HP! shooter comes with a brand new pixel binning technology named ChamelonCell that can combine up to sixteen pixels in different resolutions.
Where can we see the sensor?
As of now, there has been no word regarding any smartphone getting the latest Samsung sensor. However, in the future, we can expect multiple smartphone firms to rely on the same shooter to offer camera prowess in the flagship devices.
Speculations are that the upcoming Moto phone with 200MP primary shooter will be based on Samsung’s sensor only. However, we are still skeptical about the fact. Not only this, but the Xiaomi Leica partnership is also going to do wonders in terms of camera quality.
We can soon expect a Xiaomi device with a high-resolution camera too. There have been rumors that Xiaomi has been working on a 192MP sensor device for a long time. high chances are that we can forget to see the smartphone by the end of 2022 or Maybe at the beginning of 2023.
Not only this, but OnePlus is also in the race as the brand partnered with Hasselblad since the OnePlus 9 series to handle the camera department. We can expect the upcoming OnePlus flagship devices to get something like a high-resolution camera to compete with other upcoming flagships.
