Today, Samsung announced that it would introduce three innovative, new projects at CES 2018 developed by its C-Lab (Creative Lab) program. Along with that, the brand will as well exhibit the newly released commercial products of seven startups that have spun off from C-Lab.

The first of the new Samsung C-Lab projects is S-Ray or Sound-Ray, a portable directional speaker. It is smaller and lighter than existing directional speakers, equipped with a unique system module. It provides the benefits that users enjoy by the conventional directional speakers and headphones. Comfort carry, proper directional attributes, and no bother to others around – are three highlights of Samsung S-Ray. It will further showcase relevant accessories like smartphone cover, Handy, Neckband and more.

Samsung GoBreath is the second of the three, and it is a recovery solution for people affected by lungs damage, and those who ‘suffer from postoperative pulmonary complications after general anesthesia.’ It includes a portable device and a mobile app for providing lessons on basic techniques of inspiration and deep breathing. There are exercise guidelines and progress trackers to see the difference in recovery in the app. GoBreath further offers web and cloud service for doctors to monitor patients’ progress and set practice reminders.

Third on the list of three innovative new Samsung C-lab projects are ‘smart visual aid eyeglasses’ called the Remulino glasses. These are to help people having visual challenges to see clear images while viewing an object or reading a book. At Mobile World Congress 2017, the app was first exhibited. The glasses utilize the processors and batteries of the smartphone and are comfy and light to wear. Samsung explains simply: “The smartphone processes images from videos projected through the camera of the glasses, and the processed images are floated into the display of the Relúmĭno glasses to help the wearer see things better.”

They will be coming up continuously with innovative new projects via the C-Lab program. Alongside the Samsung C-Lab projects, the seven startups as participants in the coming CES are LINK FLOW, Kitten Planet, lululab, KID SOFT, Mangoslab, Innomdle lab, and analogue plus. The C-Lab spin-off policy was introduced in 2015 for the Samsung employees ‘who have successfully completed C-Lab projects to launch their own start-ups.’ The brand endorses the startups via seed money investments and consultations on business for their expansions, simultaneously guaranteeing their respective independence.
