Environment and economy are the two sides of the same coin. It Is impossible to care about the economy without caring about the environment one life in. In order to sustain in the fast, outgrowing world, it is extremely important to cater to the needs of nature. Recently, in the month of June, South Korea’s ruling party proposed the idea of cutting down the emission of greenhouse gas by at least 40% within the coming 2 years.
Samsung Electronics, this time, has taken a step forward to join hands with its government to safeguard mother earth. On Wednesday, the company came up with an initiative to convert all vehicles used by the company into environment-friendly vehicles by 2030.
The South Korea-based giant company has decided to introduce eco-friendly cars in place of corporate fleet cars. Samsung uses 800 cars on lease which includes executive sedans and logistic vehicles. The giant company has taken a vow to replace all these operating vehicles with eco-friendly cars and has signed a green mobility agreement with Korea’s environment ministry.
According to this agreement signed between Samsung and Korea’s environment ministry, from this month onwards, the company will check on the use of diesel-driven cars at its semiconductor business sites in South Korea.
The agreement also states that Samsung will receive subsidies from the ministry of environment in order to carry on the initiative effectively. The government will stand behind Samsung while replacing its owned cars with electric or hydrogen-powered cars. Along with this, the government will also look after the installation of the charging station as well.
Not only Samsung, but its partner companies, too have decided to lend their consent to this initiative. These partner companies have vowed to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by replacing 2,000 cars with eco-friendly vehicles within the next 9 years.
By 2023, Samsung along with its vendors, have decided to replace 600 vehicles and in the next 4 years, by 2025, the company envisions replacing 1,900 cars. The company further said that introducing eco-friendly vehicles will be able to put a toll on the annual emission of Co2 along with other global warming causing gas by almost 6,200 tons.
