South-Korean multinational electronics company Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the new Galaxy A80 smartphone today in Korea.
The Galaxy A80, which has been built for “the Era of Live“, comes with Samsung’s first rotating triple camera and the immersive New Infinity Display, and is available for purchase online and in select markets today onwards.

Rotating Triple Camera
Galaxy A80 introduces Samsung’s innovative rotating triple camera that would provide the same high-quality camera lens for both front and the ear of the smartphone. It even allows for continuous recording of footage, whether through the rear camera or the front one.
The triple camera setup is constituted by a primary camera is 48MP, a 8MP Ultra Wide Lena with a 123° viewing angle, and a 3D Depth Camera.
The primary camera can capture vivid photos both in daylight and at nighttime. The Ultra Wide Angle lens is helpful in capturing in its totality and contributes to enhanced live video recording and sharing.
The 3D Depth Camera adds depth to the photos captured and comes with features such as Live Focus Video mode that allows the user to create movie-like clips of moments, and Super Steady Video mode that reduces bumps or shakes in videos.
Samsung expressed that the idea behind the rotating camera system was for achieveing a notchless display while offering something more than just a typical pop-up selfie mechanism.
New Infinity Display
Samsung also introduces its first New Infinity Display with the Galaxy A80. Featuring an expansive, edge-to-edge, 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen, with a 20:9 display ratio, the smartphone allows for a “cinematic multimedia experience“.
The Dolby Atmos speakers enhance the audio-visual experience that the smartphone can provide.
Intelligent Performance Enhancer
The Galaxy A80’s AI-powered performance optimization software improves the smartphone’s performance by maximizing the device’s CPU, RAM and battery capacity, for better and longer usage.
The Galaxy A80 runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) and is powered by Snapdragon 730G and is based on an 8nm process, along with a Adreno 618 GPU for graphics.
The smartphone comes with a 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.
Samsung security
The Galaxy A80 comes equipped with Samsung’s defense-grade security platform, Samsung Knox, that is designed to protect everything ranging from the chipset to the software.
Samsung Pass is another security feature that aloows for secure and convenient access to apps and websites through fingerprint sensor.
Price and Availablity
The Galaxy A80, with 8GB RAM+ 128GB internal storage, comes in three color variants: Angel Gold that has hints of pink, Ghost White with hints of blue, and Phantom Black. It will release in India this month itself, and will cost around ₹44,990.
