Samsung started rolling out the January security patches for Galaxy J5 (2016) in Europe. It has been long due, with the smartphone released two years back. The mid-low-end handset has been upgraded to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and has done well so far in the markets, despite waivers on hardware.

Now, the update includes only a few small improvements that provide stability and speed for the system of the phone. These are the results of bug fixes on the old firmware release. Samsung managed to show its commitment to releasing security measures in Android devices, and that too for non-recent devices as well, alongside its latest smartphones.

The update in question has been rolled out in the Netherlands for now. A global rollout for Galaxy J5 users might take two more weeks. Although they can force download the update via Settings, then Device Info, and finally to Software Updates.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) can be purchased from Amazon for 192 Euros. It is as well available in various other online stores.
