In the annals of technological advancement, one trend stands out like a beacon of innovation: the rapid growth of humanoid robots. As if straight out of science fiction novels, these machines have transcended the realm of mere imagination and firmly rooted themselves in our reality. A significant turning point in this evolution has been marked by Samsung’s foray into the burgeoning field.
Samsung has today uncovered its new vision for the system semiconductors named “Semiconductor Humanoid Robot” and says it will be official at the Samsung Technology Day in October or November. According to the Korean semiconductor giant, it will flesh out its plans to develop and produce “semiconductor humanoid robots” that have human senses such as smell and taste.
Samsung’s Semiconductor Humanoid Robot
Industry insiders claim that Park Yong-in, president of Samsung Electronics LSI business unit, will discuss the future semiconductor humanoid robot. His keynote address will outline commercialization strategies and provide an update on semiconductor humanoid robot development. Samsung Electronics, which makes its image sensors, is working on creating semiconductors that can also detect touch, hearing, taste, and smell.
A new business working group has reportedly been formed by the system LSI department to investigate the particular use of semiconductor humanoid robots. At Samsung Tech Day, Joo Hyuk, vice president of the division’s new business working group, is anticipated to introduce a medical robot based on a semiconductor humanoid robot.
Additionally, Lim Seok-hwan, the division’s vice president, will discuss ChatGPT, a technology that combines American speakers with artificial intelligence (AI) and language learning models (LLMs).
Samsung – AMD Corporation
Moreover, AMD will take part in Samsung Technology Day on a corporate level. Martin Ashton, a vice president of AMD, will outline the latest developments in the Technology Alliance between AMD and Samsung Electronics. Samsung and AMD have been working together to create GPU Eclipse for smartphone APs since 2022.
The two businesses struck a strategic alliance in April to create semiconductors for electronics using AMD GPUs. At Samsung Tech Day, the system LSI business will also introduce over 900 system semiconductors, including SoCs and image sensors.
