Snapchat is reportedly preparing to launch a quite interesting new feature called Cameo. Through Cameo, users can edit photos, then insert them into a video.
After having recently introduced 3D selfies, Snapchat innovates again with even more functionality. Cameos use your selfies to replace other people’s faces in videos, which you can then share.
In other words, it’s a simplified way for you to “deepfake” your selfies into animated GIFs. This new feature, Snapchat Cameos, is a practical alternative to Bitmoji to quickly share an emotion, reaction in Snapchat messages, hilariously staging you.
Cameo is similar to how you make GIFs. However, Snapchat changed it to simpler. Furthermore, Cameo is claimed to make it easier for users to express themselves through GIFs.
Unfortunately, Snapchat is not ready to release Cameo globally. As for only a limited trial in several international markets. “Cameo is not ready to go on stage, but is still here for their global debut immediately!” Snapchat said in a statement to TechCrunch.
This innovation is expected to help Snapchat make its video messaging ever more popular, which is important because it is its biggest difference from other big social networks. After the shameless copy of Stories by Instagram and WhatsApp, Snapchat strives at all costs to stay ahead from the competition in the internet messaging platform.
Meanwhile, here’s how to make a video through Snapchat Cameo:
- Take a selfie with your camera, or select an already available selfie
- Then, select the desired frame type in the form of a male or female body.
- Next, select Cameo which is located in the Snapchat keyboard emoji button.
- Choose the short video (GIF) available in Cameo
With the steps above, you can follow when the Cameo feature is present in Snapchat. However, please note, that currently, Snapchat has not released it in India. Users may have to wait a long time for its global rollout.
