Sony announced a new PlayStation VR headset featuring a few small changes but making the device usage more convenient. This is more like an incremental upgrade than a platform overhaul.
The new design includes a brand new model number and integrated stereo headphones. The model number CUH-ZVR2 comes up with Processor Unit that is updated and supports HDR passing through. Thusly, users can now watch HDR content via PS4 or TV, and there is no need to disconnect the external Processor Unit. Although, you need to turn off the VR headset.
More PlayStation VR updates are on the way
The Processing Unit of the new model is not backward compatible with different cabling. This means that the present PlayStation VR users will need to continue with the lack of HDR compatibility. Therefore, you need to buy a new headset entirely.
As Sony reveals, the new model packing will have slight differences when it reaches the store shelves. This will help users differentiate. Alongside the new model number, there will also be an image of the new design on the box.
All the new PlayStation VR headsets have the compatibility to work across both models. At the same time, pricing remains the same.
There are certain issues that the users are facing, which this PSVR headset is not able to take care of. But the good news through the announcement is that Sony is conveying the message to the users that they are not left alone.
As for the launch date, Sony will reveal it very soon. The upgrade will hit Japan and the countries of North America and Europe.
