Twitter is all set to remove 140 characters limit in Direct Messages. Announcing in a Developer Forum post Twitter said over the past years the company working to the messaging service and now it lets its user to send bigger messages so that users can have better conversation.
Now you would not have to bother about your DM sizes. If you want to send long messages to your followers you should just type the message- Twitter will allow you to send messages having 10000 characters.
The new update will be roll out in July, though the company has not confirmed the release date. Twitter recommended developers to review the new API addition so that they can update their service with the upcoming changes.

Further the company says this will not change the daily conversion of its users- there will not be any change in tweet length, it will be same 140 character as it is now. The company advised developers to deploy the changes in its API setting and asks to give their feedback in its Twitter Developer forum.
