A tweet has revealed today that Twitter is planning to introduce a new feature called “Twitter Articles,” which will allow users to create articles and long-form posts within the app and express themselves better.

A tweet screenshot shared by Jane Manchun Wong today revealed that the social media platform is exploring a new approach to writing articles and long-form postings within the app.

Prior to 2017, Twitter has always been known for its character limit per tweet, which used to be 140 characters and then went up to 280 in 2017.

At the moment, each tweet has a character limit, making it impossible for people to write everything in one post.

While there are no specifics on how Twitter Articles will function, the screenshot hints that the platform would include a section dedicated to this functionality.

According to some reports, the feature may not be limited to certain types of accounts. This is fantastic because the option to write without a character limit might be really beneficial to users.

However, Twitter may make this feature available only to Super Followers or Twitter Blue members to boost the value of the Blue subscription service. This is presently unavailable worldwide and only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for a monthly fee of $2.99 for the subscription.

A Twitter spokesperson told CNET that Twitter is “always looking into new ways to help people start and engage in conversations” and that additional information about Twitter Articles will be released shortly.

In 2020, the microblogging platform introduced “continuous threads,” which allow several tweets to be attached to a single core tweet, making a longer post more legible and followable.

However, Twitter did not remove the 280-character limit per tweet for threads. On the other hand, the Twitter Articles feature may eventually provide relief to users who struggle to fit everything into a single tweet.
