In April, Twitter Lite received positive feedback from both users & critics. It is basically developed to provide a mobile web experience despite constraints like limited data usage, slower connections, or unreliable mobile networks. In the past few months, tweets from Twitter Lite have increased more than 50%. Apart from the features like GIF search, ranked Home timeline, and more, there have been some safety and performance improvements in the latest version.
In September, the company tested making it available in the Google Play Store in the Philippines and wanted to make it more discoverable. It received positive feedback there. People were impressed by its small size, less loading time, and minimal data usage. Hence the company has decided to take it one step forward.
It was officially declared yesterday that users from 24 new countries around the globe will now be able to download the app from Google Play Store. The list of these new countries includes Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, specifically: Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Serbia, El Salvador, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Tanzania, and Venezuela.
It does not matter whether it is used through the mobile web or through the Google Play Store; it will be fast, data-friendly & will occupy less space. It can be customized to get real-time updates on news, sports, entertainment, politics, and other topics that matter most to the users.
Apart from being fluent in both 2G and 3G networks, it also offers offline support in case the connection is temporarily lost. It comes with a data saver mode which can be used to minimize the data usage to download only the images or videos that are users wanted to be seen. The install size is under 3MB so it doesn’t take much memory on the phone.
The intention of Twitter is clear. They want to make Twitter the best for their users to see what’s happening in the world and to talk about it, irrespective of whichever part of the world they belong to.
