Twitter has come under a lot of scrutiny under official eyes. Over the years, the online platform has refined its few policies and bent a few rules to meet the criteria demanded by government officials of various countries.
However, this does not confirm that it has been without its faults. Similarly, Twitter has also taken into consideration user experience and made the platform user friendly by continually introducing new updates, and incorporating new features.
When introducing new features, most of them follow the already conventional ones available on other social media platforms, such as Facebook or Instagram.
Whereas both Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram have tried to tighten security for the sake of its users, Twitter comes with its own contingency plans for its users.
Users can only share their tweets with those who follow them, thereby ensuring privacy. Other features included receiving replies only from the people they follow. The next step forward in this direction for Twitter is showing the mutual people for accounts.
The latest feature lets the user see the mutual people they have with the person’s tweet they reply to. Space that previously showed the users their recent pictures to attach it with the tweet will show the mutual connection.
At its face value, this might not seem like a radical change to the way users use Twitter, but there is no doubt that this move perhaps was undertaken by Twitter to curb the spread of inappropriate responses and Tweets.
A few users mentioned that this move perhaps would ensure that a significant amount can bring down ad hominem attacks. Having a few mutual connections to the tweet they are replying to might encourage the user not to exchange inappropriate words.
