The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Vivo again shows a very innovative phone. Earlier this year, the relatively young manufacturer was able to focus all of its attention by being the first to introduce a smartphone with a fingerprint scanner into the display, the Vivo X20 Plus UD and the Vivo X21. This time the company once again has a world-first with the introduction of the Vivo NEX, the first smartphone with a full-screen display.
Vivo Apex concept model becomes Vivo NEX
At the MWC 2018 Vivo showed the Apex, a concept model that would not appear on the market. However, the reactions were so overwhelming that Vivo has now decided to officially launch the smartphone. The device has now been renamed to Vivo NEX.
The Chinese manufacturer had applied for a trademark for NEX. Although we did not know at the time what kind of a smartphone this would be, international speculations soon went round that this could be the market name for the Apex.
The Vivo NEX is a notch-free smartphone with ultra-thin screen edges. All required sensors, such as the fingerprint scanner and the speaker, are processed in the display. The fingerprint scanner is further developed and even more accurate than before. New technology has been used for the speaker, in fact, the entire display works as a speaker. A different solution has been devised for the camera, the selfie camera is extendable. Within a second the 8 MP camera is ready to take a picture.
The new NEX smartphone has a 6.59-inch display with a Full HD + resolution. The device has a huge screen ratio of 19.3: 9, or 91.24%. For comparison, the iPhone X has a screen-to-body ratio of 82.9% and the Galaxy S9 has a screen ratio of 84.2%. The Essential PH-1 has been the leader with 84.9% so far.
The innovative Vivo smartphone sets a new trend that other smartphone manufacturers can not ignore. A new patent also shows a Samsung Galaxy smartphone with a screen-to-body ratio of at least 90%. However, it will take at least until 2019 before we see such a Samsung phone in reality. The Galaxy S10 must be a hit, however.
Vivo AI smartphones
The Vivo NEX is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM memory. The mobile phone is also equipped with artificial intelligence. There is an AI camera built-in with AI scene recognition, AI HDR, AI Filters and AI Photo Composition.
The Jovi Intelligent Voice Assistant has also had an upgrade, making this personal assistant even more intelligent. In addition, a separate AI button is installed, allowing users to gain access to Jovi more quickly.
