After months of speculation, the smartphone giant Vivo today confirmed that its long-awaited new OriginOS, which could turn out to be a worthy substitute for Android OS, will be introduced at an event in China on November 18. It should be mentioned that Vivo’s own VDC, the Vivo Developers Conference is supposed to take place a day before the Origin OS goes live. The invite for the launch event has several circles of different designs and mentions Origin Studio.

The highly awaited Origin OS has its own Weibo page, and the very first post made on the official page mentions the date of its launch. The “Special Event” will take place in Shenzhen, China. The location is not something that surprises its consumers since it is right next to Vivo’s home of Dongguan, and is part of the mainstream Silicon Valley of China where most of the Chinese tech companies are based on.

Earlier reports regarding the Origin OS specifically mentioned the major changes that were supposed to be a part of the OS, especially the ones made in UI, and the option to switch between Vivo’s Origin OS and Android OS. Since the Weibo page did not mention any new features, it is generally regarded that the two features mentioned above will be the crux of the Origin OS. iQOO product manager recently revealed that the new Vivo OS development is led by former Apple designers.

This year’s theme for the Vivo Developer Conference is “Original Everything”, and as part of their initiative, the company is hoping to create a healthy open service ecosystem, connect more developers, and jointly create an excellent platform. Apart from a general idea of the new OS, no details are known about the OriginOS; however, the company is expected to tease some of the features over the upcoming days before its official launch. The OriginOS is rumored to debut in X60 that is expected to launch later this year.
