The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo regularly applies innovative technologies in new smartphone models. For example, the relatively young manufacturer is currently demonstrating its new 120W charging technology at MWC Shanghai, which makes it possible to fully charge your phone in just 13 minutes.

In addition, Vivo is showing its first 5G smartphone during this annual exhibition, which will be available in the third quarter of 2019. Little is known about the specifications and the name of this device. However, a recent trademark request may tell us more about the model name of this phone.

Vivo shows its X smartphone

On June 26, 2019, the company applied for the name Vivo X from the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The trademark is classified as Class 9; the description includes; ‘smartphones, covers for smartphones, battery chargers, wireless earbuds’.

The trademark has been filed by Rolim, Mietzel, Wohlnick & Calheiros from Düsseldorf, Germany. This company has often acted in the name of Vivo, so this company was also responsible for establishing the trademark for Vivo NEX. Two months later, this smartphone was introduced as the world’s first full-screen smartphone.

In addition to the name VivoX, a logo was also registered. The way in which the X is shown is striking. It makes us suspect that we are dealing with a high-end phone, possibly a foldable smartphone.

Although not much is known about the Vivo X and the development of a folding phone, there are some rumors in the past that this innovative manufacturer is also developing a folding phone, just like its sister company, Oppo. There is, however, another possibility that may sound just as likely.

After the introduction of the Vivo NEX, the company once again attracted attention with the NEX Dual Display, a smartphone with a large screen on both the front and back. However, it did not stop there, earlier this year the Vivo APEX 2019 concept smartphone was shown. A telephone without buttons and ports.

Vivo Apex 2019 has not arrived in the market, yet it cannot be neglected that the Vivo X will soon take over many of its functionalities. We also saw this happen with the NEX a year earlier, which was initially shown as a concept telephone. The feedback from the audience was used to determine the level of interest and the final design.

It is of course, also possible that Vivo X will become something completely different. So we will have to wait a little longer until Vivo itself shows the phone.
