- With a thinner and lighter body, along with a bigger battery, the only detail that has riled up the masses is the device’s twist regarding the camera.
The sensational return of flip phones in the global market has been made apparent by the many companies that have adopted the design in their devices. Xiaomi is one of them to utilize this. Earlier in 2024, they had released the Xiaomi MIX Flip, which yielded positive sales numbers for the company. According to sources Fans now eagerly await the release of the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, although some specifications of the device have already been labeled as controversial.
The device was first spotted on the EEC certification platform where some of the phone’s specs were laid in light. Along with that, tipster Digital Chat Station shared numerous key details ahead of the official release.
Specifications
Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 will be primarily powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which starkly contrasts another flip device’s rumored specs: the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, which suggests Samsung could settle for a less powerful Exynos 2500 SoC. The main folding LTPO OLED screen will have a “1.5K” resolution and will boast a size of 6.85 inches. The cover display on the other hand is likely to stay just as big as the previous model, at 4 inches, which offers a plentiful area for interaction. Additionally, leaks also mention that the foldable will support Near Field Communication, or NFC, with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor built into the power button. As for the battery, an upgrade is in order. The device could pack one that is between 5.600 to 5,700 mAh. The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 will also be IPX8-certified water-resistant and will support wireless charging.

Changes to Camera
Xiaomi is to stick with the dual camera setup on the back of the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, but there is a catch: instead of the predecessor’s original telephoto lens, it is to feature a 50 MP ultrawide camera with a 1/2.76” sensor. Pair this with the main 50 MP main camera which will have a 1/1.5” sensor. This means, that where the previous iteration excelled at capturing portraits and distant details, the newer version will be better at group shots or the photography of landscapes in general. Ultimately, the change is up to personal preference as an individual might prefer one over the other. Other than that, the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 will probably have a healthy lifetime, as it is rumored to release sometime in 2025.
