A new dawn is waiting on the horizon to bestow a new land flooded with only wilderness for Xiaomi. Bitauto, a car media outlet, revealed the lap time results for the Xiaomi SU7 this afternoon, underscoring it to be the first test of its kind across all platforms.
According to Bitauto, the Xiaomi SU7 reached a final lap time of 1:09.54 with a top speed of 188.74 km/h on the track, bagging the fifth position on the “Bitauto List and Actual Tested Lap List”. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, later shared the results, affirming, “After careful examination, it’s evident that the Xiaomi SU7 is indeed the fastest car under 500,000 yuan.”
The test of chasing down the wind occurred at the YiCar circuit in Beijing Jingang. Preceding the Xiaomi SU7 were the Tesla Model S Plaid (1:08.10), BMW M3 (1:09.06), BMW M4 (1:09.06), BMW M5 (1:09.48), with the Xiaomi SU7 Max participating in the test.
It is worth mentioning that Lei Jun responded to inquiries about Xiaomi cars, stating, “I’ve pondered over this for three years. Finally, the answer: Xiaomi SU7 aims to be the most stylish, enjoyable to drive, and intelligent car under 500,000 yuan.”
At the outset of the year, Xiaomi Auto’s official Weibo responded to cynicism regarding Lei Jun’s words that Xiaomi Auto has no contenders within the 500,000 yuan margin, saying, “Though somewhat tongue-in-cheek, we’re also serious. We’ve compared the Porsche Taycan Turbo and Tesla Model S extensively, covering design, performance, range, and safety, among other aspects. The results are clear, as is the pricing disparity. We’re prudent and won’t make outlandish claims. Therefore, we remain confident that the Xiaomi SU7 currently has no rivals within the 500,000 yuan range.
