YouTube, the popular online video community announced its new children-centric app, YouTube Kids in India, on Thursday. This app will help the children to find useful videos instantly. This app can be downloaded from Google Play and App Store.
YouTube Kids comes to India at a great time for millions of Indian families, as it provides children access to content that will enrich their lives and create new opportunities for learning.- Malik Ducard, YouTube’s Global Head of Family and Learning.
The developers made this app by totally thinking from a child’s point of view, hence adding a voice search for making the search accurate in case if the kids are unable to spell any word properly. The icons and images will also appear very large and bold which will help the children to find and navigate the videos easily.
Indian creators are exporting large amount of content as well. There is a uniformity in the consumption as a lot of content created in India is watched outside and a lot of content created outside is consumed in India.- Aman Dayal, Content Partnership Manager YouTube Kids and Learning.
Users can browse the channels and playlists in four categories: Shows, Music, Learning, and Explore.
Moreover, YouTube said that on the occasion of launching this app, many top Indian YouTube Kids and learning creators would be adding new shows exclusive to the YouTube platform. Such as “ChuChuTV” and “Kids TV,” a new season of “Cat and Keet,” a popular chase comedy show by Toonz Animation, the “Gummy Bear” song in Hindi, and a new season of “Appu – The Yogic Elephant.”
YouTube is also concerned about security, as, the app also has the parental control option by which the parents can switch to ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’ to access millions of family-friendly videos to restrict the search.
Furthermore, there is a built-in-timer using which parents can set the screen timing. And they can also put the passwords and can restrict the contents they want, as well as can change the access settings.
Content from the YouTube Kids app can be seen on TV using devices like Chromecast, Apple TV, and gaming consoles. It is also compatible with smart TVs.
