After the design of the second-generation Kia Niro was teased earlier, the car finally made its appearance in Seoul on November 24, 2021. The car is expected to be available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric guises. However, the new version of the Niro looks very different from its predecessor.
The exterior design of the Kia Niro is inspired by the Habanero concept from 2019. The new Niro features an LED daytime running light and a contrasting rear pillar. Many car enthusiasts have commented on its similarity with Kia’s Tiger Nose. However, the electric vehicle has a smaller grille and a charging port mounted at the center. The entire thick C pillar comes in glossy black color.
The C pillar, along with the color of the car’s body, gives the car a two-tone look. The vertical LED taillights extend all the way up to the roof of the car, and the rear bumper comes with light pods. Moreover, the rear hatch also contains a large spoiler.
Not only the exterior design of the car, but the interior of the car also has undergone significant changes. The digital gauge cluster and the infotainment screens have been combined to make one display. The center console features an electronic shifter.
Moreover, the car offers a mix of physical and touch buttons for controls. Kia has also highlighted that most of the materials used for its interior design are eco-friendly, such as the headliner is made from recycled wallpaper, the seats are made from eucalyptus leaves, and the company has used water-free paint in the door panels.
The pricing for the new Kia Niro will definitely be higher than the outgoing Niro, and the pricing for the car is expected to be somewhere between USD 25,000 to USD 30,000.
