As an extensive facelift, the luxury limo’s fascia has been given an even larger kidney grille for a “more powerful visual presence.” The BMW 7 series is a standard bar of the U.S. model and is finished in aluminum satin. The range-topping M760Li xDrive model features a Cerium Grey finish with a Massive Grille and a new V8 engine.

After several spy photo sessions, some leaks, and a single teaser, the facelifted BMW 7 Series is making its official debut with major styling tweaks and a couple of necessary tech upgrades. BMW’s 7 Series flagship sedan is acquiring a design cue from the brand-new X7, BMW’s massive three-row sports utility vehicle.

BMW is ditching the turbocharged inline-four in its 740e xDrive PHEV in favor of a plug-in hybrid powertrain that uses a 280-horsepower inline six-cylinder mill. Now called the 745e xDrive, it will make a total of 389, and 442 lb-ft of torque in sports mode, good enough for a claimed 0-60 sprint of 4.9 seconds.

Primarily, the 7 Series receives significant changes to its powertrain lineup. In addition to enhanced features, the 7 Series lineup becomes more powerful and more eco-friendly than before.

Inside, the 7-series cabin is to be updated too, with new types of leather available to swathe every surface. When equipped with the ultra-quilted finish, as below, it makes the cabin a sumptuous cockpit indeed.

Mostly the same as before, the interior consists of a large infotainment screen rising from the dashboard, relying heavily on horizontal lines and layers. BMW’s photos endorse some impressive stitchwork in the front and rear of the seat. Dakota leather is standard, but you can get fancier with Nappa or Merino leather for a bit more scratch.

The 2020 BMW 7 Series is expected to go on sale in the spring, and pricing will be announced closer to that time.
