Dell announced a slew of refreshes for its Inspiron, XPS, and Alienware laptop lineups at Computex 2019. It also revealed new gaming headsets, a delivery and installation service, and a new EyeSafe display.
Dell has launched a number of new gaming laptops at this year’s Computex, namely Alienware’s m15 and m17 laptops, which are now touting new hardware, new features, and a vastly improved design, as well as an update to Dell’s more affordable G3 series.
The new design for the m15 and m17 borrows a lot from the Area-51m to the point where the new laptops essentially resemble slimmed down versions of the flagship model. Keep in mind that they’re not that slim, though – these are still Alienware gaming laptops, even if are the thinnest the company has ever made, they’re still pretty large machines.
The latest refreshes are some of the world’s most popular laptops leading off with the excellent XPS 13 as this summer’s version goes 2-in-1 and will be the first of Dell‘s offerings to feature a 10th generation Intel Core processor. Overall, Dell claims to have 8% thinner 2-in-1 redesigned thermal system that its previous one due to its shift to 16:10 screen ratio with 7% more display viewing area.
Both new Alienware will ship with OLED screen options in 144hz and 240hz rates. The 15 becomes the world’s first 15-inch laptop to feature Tobii Eye Tracking, and the 17 joins Dell‘s G7 as the first to offer the new EyeSafe screen technology which provides for protecting your eyes from harmful light without sacrificing color and brightness. Dell also unveils a new Geek Squad-esque delivery and installation service called Dell Home Installation Services.
Joining the new laptops is a pair of inexpensive gaming headsets with matching Legend designs. The $100 Alienware 7.1 Gaming headset (AW510H) will come in black or white versions to match the new laptops; the Dark Side of the Moon color will ship at the end of July, while the Lunar Light model will be available about a week later.
The Alienware 7.1 Gaming Headset comes with a retractable boom microphone, a cushioned leather headband, and earcups made from a combination of leatherette, sports fabric, and memory foam. As for the Alienware Stereo Gaming Headset, it’s equipped with 50mm drivers, a textured fabric headband, and earcups made of memory foam and sports fabric. Both headphones have cross-platform compatibility via its 3.5mm cable.
The Alienware 7.1 Gaming Headset is priced at USD 99.99 while the Alienware Stereo Gaming Headset is priced at USD 79.99. Both headphones will be available in the US by July 31. Dell has also confirmed that both headsets will arrive in the Philippines; however; the exact availability and official prices are still unknown.
