The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster has been officially announced for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. There is no specific release date yet, but it will arrive in the spring of 2023.

According to Square Enix, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, which have just recently become accessible on PC and mobile platforms, will also shortly be available for PlayStation 4 and Switch. All six games, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI, will be included in this collection. In addition to being offered in bundles, these remaster will also be sold separately.

Moreover, there will also be an Anniversary Edition that includes some exciting extras to commemorate the 35-year milestone. The Anniversary Edition and the six-game set, which cost $74.99 and $259.99, are already up for preorder. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters physical editions are currently up for pre-order on the Square Enix Store.

The following items are included in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Anniversary Edition:

  • Anniversary Edition goodies box.
  • A bonus lenticular sleeve for the game package.
  • 2-disc vinyl record set featuring newly arranged game music with exclusive cover artwork by Kazuko Shibuya
  • A beautifully curated artbook with stunning character pixel art.
  • A window package artwork including eight stylized pixel art character figures.

The Pixel Remaster series dates back to last year when the lineup of six remakes was first unveiled and subsequently made available for PC and mobile platforms. The only drawbacks were their high price tags and the often small in-game fonts, which set them apart from other Square Enix classic re-releases.

While PC and mobile devices obviously have a wide audience, there is something special about enjoying these games on a PlayStation or with the Nintendo Switch’s more specific portable gaming system.

Since there have previously been rumors circulating that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection might be ported to other platforms, this news probably won’t surprise those who have been keeping up with speculations surrounding the six-game collection.
