HTC has launched the U12+, a high-end flagship model packed with premium specs. Although, experts fear that it may not be as popular as other high-end flagships like Galaxy S9, Mi Mix 2, and OnePlus 6.
HTC U12+ sports a transparent 3D liquid glass design body and comes with a sleek and premium appearance. It bears a 6-inch Super LCD 6 Quad HD+ display supporting 2880 x 1440 pixels with an 18:9 aspect ratio and HDR 10 support.
The handset is fueled by Snapdragon 845 coupled with 6GB RAM. There are two storage variants: 64GB and 128GB, and a microSD slot lets expand the memory up to 2 TB! The device runs Android Oreo and will be upgradeable to Android P after the OS’ official release. The battery is of 3,500mAh.
U12+ is a notch-less phone with four cameras. The horizontally set dual rear cameras are equipped with 12 MP wide-angle with UltraPixel 4 of HTC and 16 MP telephoto lens. Notable features are 2x optical zoom, bokeh, HDR10 video, and ultra-fast whole-sensor phase detection autofocus. The abilities listed are 4K video at 60fps and 1080p slow-mo at 240fps.
There are dual cameras on the front as well, with a couple of 8 MP sensors. The features are advanced portrait shots, Face Unlock, wide angle lens, AR stickers, screen flash, and HDR boost. In the DXOMark score, the cameras of U12+ stand second only to P20 Pro.
The handset also brings Edge Sense 2 technology, letting users squeeze the device for apps and shortcuts. The technology offers pressure-sensitive sides and double tapping by HTC. It can also detect the hand you are using while handling the phone and adjusts accordingly. The features will work with most apps in Google Play Store and stock apps.
HCT U12+ is priced at $799 for its 64GB variant, and costs $849 for the 128GB model. It will be available on the HTC website and Amazon. There are three color variants: red, translucent blue, and black. The black model does not have the 128 GB variant.
