Lenovo has announced today, June 13, its newest mobile workstation, ThinkPad P52. It will be powered by Intel’s 8th-gen Xeon Hexa-core processor. It also bears a black chassis design, carrying a silver ThinkPad logo and the iconic trackpad nub.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P52 workstation is a beast of a machine, and it sports a 15.6-inch display and offers two options: 4K UHD with 100% Adobe color gamut and 1080p panel with 72% color gamut. The former will come with 400 nits of brightness, and the latter with 300 nits.

Its graphics are boosted by the discreet chip Nvidia Quadro P3200, and it hosts up to 128GB DDR4 RAM! Furthermore, the internal memory offered is up to 6TB! These are ideal as the ThinkPad aims for VR content creation and other high-end computing.

Lenovo is offering five OS options for the ThinkPad: Win10 Pro, Win10 Pro for Workstations, Win10 Home, Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu. Ah, the feeling when you get to choose as per your needs from such varied options!

The best part is that it features two Thunderbolt 3 ports using which you can watch 8K content instead of 4K. The ports allow further combinations, like connecting up to four 4K monitors, two 5K monitors, or combining 4K and 5K monitors. ThinkPad P52 is infused with enough power to handle any of these combinations.

Anyone of the ports can also be used for the Thunderbolt Workstation Dock of Lenovo. Other features include an IR camera, TPM 2.0, a webcam cover, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, mini DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, SD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack, Smart Card reader, Kensington lock slot, and wired internet.

A workstation is a machine that’s designed to suit all needs, ranging from CAD to 4K video editing to virtual reality and more. It is also quite portable, bearing 4G LTE support. The weight of about 5.4 pounds that’s roughly about 2.45 kg ensures easy handling.

ThinkPad P52 has a starting price of $1,070; although that’s just one source suggesting. It is expected that it will be over $1,000 when Lenovo officially confirms it. It will be available starting late June.
