McLaren has announced the launch of the Artura which is going to be the replacement for the 570S. The company has emphasized time and again that the Artura model will be exceptional. Every element of the car will be new, starting from the platform and hybrid powertrain to the interior design and the car’s name. Or that is what McLaren has promised its customers.

A few of the leaked patent images of the car have revealed that the exterior design of the car departures significantly from McLaren’s current designs for most of the cars. The company officially announced that the world premiere of the car will take place on February 16 in Europe.

McLaren Artura is supposed to be a plug-in hybrid with roughly 20 miles of electric range. The new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture will compensate for the added battery weight. Additionally, the first McLaren hybrid will also come with a twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor, with power from both sources delivered to the rear axle.

The combustion engine and the electric motor jointly will deliver an output of above 600 horsepower which will make the Artura stronger than the 562-hp 570S. The instant torque of the e-motor will help to negate the estimated weight gain of 20 to 30 kilograms.

Artura promises to deliver “super-light engineering, extreme power, electrification, and race-honed agility” to enable a “uniquely intense driving experience.”

Most of the supercar makers are adopting new styles that will help them in downsizing which is also associated with the adoption of electrification. Now it has become clear that McLaren is no different and that it is also following the same trend. However, it is not clear yet if the new McLaren supercar’s pricing will be somewhere near the 570S. The company may choose to increase the price of the smartphone significantly especially because of its high complexity of the powertrain.
