After many leaks with more or less weight, and analyst predictions for all tastes, Samsung has finally unveiled its next great device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is already among us, timely on August 7 as its manufacturer had announced, and incorporates several new features that the Koreans have been set on low heat for their new pearl. Among others, a brother Plus.

And as with all weight arrivals, it’s time to evaluate what has changed in the last year. What makes these new Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ different from the Galaxy Note 9 that landed in the same chapter of August but last season. Because now the family unfolds but part of the original DNA remains. Let’s see what that evolution has been.

Updated power and goodbye to the microSD

With this change of processor, it gains in power, energy efficiency and also in graphics power, but we also do it in terms of memories, also renewed. If in the Note 9 we had 6 or 8GB of RAM to choose, now all part of the 8GB of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and jumps up to 12GB of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. The first, with 256GB of the base. The second, with 256GB or 512GB, according to tastes. Of course, goodbye to the microSD in both models, as we say goodbye to the headphone jack.

With the new Note 10, the device doesn’t have the ability to expand the memory, so it is appreciated that the most basic model already starts at 256GB, but surely there are many users disappointed with this change. As with the fact that the Note 10 are already betting on Bluetooth or physical audio extracted through the USB Type-C port. There is no longer a headphone jack, friends, we are very sorry.

With the new generation, the batteries are also updated, and here we have a step back and one forward. The step back is for the normal Note 10, which reduces from 4,000 mAh to 3,500 mAh in one year. The step forward, for the Note 10+ that grows to 4,300 mAh and adds the fast 45W charge from Samsung, although the charger included in the box will not support this power and will have to be done separately.

Another of the big changes introduced by the new Galaxy Note 10 is relative to the screen. In the last generation, we had a 6.4-inch panel that still maintained the rectangular and uncut format. Samsung did not yet reach the notch in its high-end model for the last leg of the year and offered a 19: 9 ratio with QHD +. For this year there is news, and one of them is that we talk about perforated screens.

Now we no longer have Super AMOLED but Dynamic AMOLED, a technology that we already knew since the S10, and we have two perforated panels in our hands. The first, Note 10, is 6.3 inches and comes with FullHD + resolution. The second, the Note 10+, stretches to 6.8 inches and does offer the QHD + we saw last year.

In addition, we now have HDR + support. And to complete the screen, the fingerprint reader is embedded in both and arrives with ultrasonic technology, so it must be faster and more accurate than optical readers. The body, covered with Gorilla Glass glass, also has the IP68 certification against dust and water for what is virtually, and most likely literally although Samsung is not going to recommend it, submersible.

Two cameras, three cameras, four cameras

Samsung’s other big leap in this generation of the Note 10 is that we go to triple and quad cameras, after the double exhibited by the Galaxy Note 9 last year. In 2018 we had a pair of 12 megapixels forming on the back of the Note 9, one with a wide-angle lens and another with a telephoto lens to offer double zoom optical zoom.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10, the ‘little one’, now offers us three cameras while the Note 10+ raises the bet to the four sensors by adding a 3D TOF with VGA resolution for depth readings. But the other three, identical. 16 megapixels f / 2.2 with 123º ultra-wide-angle lens, 12 megapixels with a wide-angle lens and variable aperture f / 1.5-2.4, and a final 12-megapixel sensor with telephoto lens and f / 2.1 aperture. The second and third, optically stabilized.

As you have seen, the premise was clear and has been improved in all the predecessor, although the Galaxy Note 9 certainly can still do the same things as a Note 10 certainly more modern, more powerful and more capable, but just as interesting.

In fact, the consequent price drop of the Galaxy Note 9 will probably make it now a much more palatable object than a month ago, because its possibilities are many and it still has a journey among the most functional smartphones in the market, now almost half the price.

In any case, opting for a Galaxy Note 9 will leave us without the Samsung triple camera with ToF sensor, without the attractive design with the optimized front to the maximum, without reversible load and without the fingerprint reader integrated under the screen, but all of them They are options that many will be willing to give up for a smartphone that maintains all Samsung services, the S-Pen Bluetooth, a more classic and symmetrical design, and power to bore you with a much lower price.

In any case, if it is worth the jump, it is something that you must decide on your own, taking into account the available budget, because nobody doubts that Samsung’s evolution is the logic, also adopting 5G as standard for the entire Note 10 range.

It also seems clear that if you want the best you will have to pay it, and the Galaxy Note 10 is already the most advanced mobile in the market waiting for rivals and/or foldable smartphones that can raise the bar of productivity of this model.
