The Japanese automotive manufacturer company, Toyota Motor, has revealed that it will suspend production for Fifteen (15) days at seven domestic factories in October of next month due to a semiconductor chip shortage. The world’s largest automaker by sales disclosed this today in its October production plan released via its official website.
According to the automobile giant, it plans to produce about 800,000 vehicles worldwide in October, about 100,000 short of its average monthly production plan, due to semiconductor shortages. Meanwhile, last month, the company declared that the average monthly production plan for the next three months, September, October, and November, would be approximately 900,000 units.
However, due to the impact of semiconductor shortages, the company is now planning global production volume for October to be approximately 800,000 units, with 250,000 units in Japan and 550,000 units overseas. Initially, the global manufacturing schedule averages 850,000 units each month from October to December. This plan is based on careful confirmation of parts supply and the company’s suppliers’ personnel structures and facility capacities.
The seven domestic factories affected are Toyota Motor Corporation Motomachi Plant, Takaoka Plant, Tsutsumi Plant, Tahara Plant, Miyata Plant, Toyota Industries Corporation, and Hino Motors, Ltd. Hamura Plant. Likewise, the production suspension will equally affect ten-line production models like GR Yaris, RAV4, Harrier Corolla Sport, Camry, and Crown.
Other affected lines include; Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX, 4Runner, Lexus LS, IS, RC, RC F, NX, Lexus NX, NX450h+, ES, CT, UX, UX300e, Lexus ES, RX, RAV4, RAV4, RAV4 PHV, Land Cruiser Prado and FJ Cruiser.
Consequently, the automobile giant apologized for their repeated adjustments to the production plan due to the parts shortage resulting from the spread of COVID-19 and for causing considerable inconvenience to their customers, who have been waiting for the delivery of vehicles, suppliers, and other parties concerned.
In all, the company maintained that it would continue to make every effort to deliver as many vehicles as possible to customers at the earliest date while closely examining the situation. Stay connected with TechGenyz as we bring you the latest updates in the tech world.
