Xiaomi has launched Mi Smart Speaker in India, making it’s the Chinese company’s first-ever smart-speaker here. The smart speaker comes equipped with Google Assistant support and includes two far-field microphones. The speaker features a light ring on top which is very similar to the blue voice light available on Amazon Echo speakers.
The speaker is encased in a metal mesh design that brings both a premium look and delivers top-tier sound quality. The Mi Smart Speaker features a matte finish on top of its 0.7mm-thin metal mesh.
The mesh design itself helps in delivering a surrounding sound. Furthermore, the speaker features a 12W 2.5-inch front-firing audio driver that is tuned with DTS sound.
To control the volume, and use the play/pause button, the speaker comes with a touch panel embedded with the controls. Additionally, using the control buttons, the users also could mute the inbuilt microphones.
The company claims that the processor is made by Texas Instrument which is perfect for the smart speaker since the processor will help accurately decode audio signals.
The speaker also comes with generic features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. To get a stereo sound experience, the users will have the ability to connect two Mi Smart Speaker units together through Bluetooth.
Since the Mi Smart Speaker comes with Google Assistant, the speaker will be compatible with almost all connected devices that offer Google Assistant support. For voice controls, the speaker comes equipped with two far-field microphones.
Moreover, the speaker supports voice commands not only in English but also in Hindi through Google Assistant. The price for the Mi Smart Speaker had been fixed at INR. 5999, although Xiaomi is offering the speaker at an introductory price of INR. 3499. The speaker will go on sale on October 1 through Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores.
