At an Air Force Pitch Day, new types of event in which small-budget investments are made in various startups in the hopes of speeding up military access to new technologies, Elon Musk briefly talked about and sort of “pitch” the idea of the Tesla electric pickup truck- Cybertruck.

The upcoming Tesla pickup truck is the next big thing in the pickup truck industry. There are quite a few things we already know about the truck, like its towing capacity and starting price. During Tesla’s third-quarter 2019 earnings conference call, Musk referred the pickup truck as the “Cybertruck” while calling it the company’s “best product ever.

Musk’s appearance at the Air Force Pitch Day event comes as SpaceX is battling with the US government over contracts that USAF has awarded. To specify, SpaceX is remonstrating the Launch Service Agreement (or LSA) contracts that were publicized in October 2018 and included more than $1 billion for companies like United Launch Alliance, Blue Origin and Northrop Grumman. SpaceX did not receive any money under that batch of awards.

The event is a new type of initiative especially for small investment startups developing technologies in which the Air Force is interested, such as satellite propulsion and Earth-imaging devices.

Musk previously said that the Tesla Electric Pickup Truck will have a ‘really futuristic-like cyberpunk Blade Runner’ design without explaining what that meant other than saying that ‘it won’t be for everyone’. To add features to the Tesla truck under development, Tesla’s CEO has previously sought after suggestions hence revealing some planned features, like an option for 400 to 500 miles of range.

Tesla’s Cybertruck itself might not be a great solution for the army, but the electric platform that Tesla built to make the truck might be a great option to create many different vehicles.
