Xiaomi has developed a new smartphone which has the screen ratio of 22.5: 9 making its form ultra-extended. The smartphone is called Xiaomi Qin 2 and it has an extended touch screen putting Sony’s 21:9 display phone to shame. Xiaomi arranged for a funding event for the smartphone. The future of the Qin 2 would be dependant on the success of the fundraising event. Those who will sponsor the production, the cost of the phone would be $73. However, the exact price of the smartphone is not clear and will get to know after the sale starts.
Other than having the 22.5:9 display screen, the specifications of the phone is quite basic. It has an IPS matrix and a resolution of 1440×576 pixels. Xiaomi Qin 2 will be available in four colors – red, pink, blue and classic black. Xiaomi officials have said the elongated display would be an advantage for people to hold the phone comfortably, especially for girls who have small palms. Sony which had released a similar smartphone with an elongated display had said that the smartphone would be suited best for watching movies and video clips.
Xiaomi Qin 2 looks like it has a compact design and its use of the plastic body reduces its weight to 105 grams which is very light. The Qin 2 is equipped with the Android 9 Go Edition which is a special version of the mobile OS of Google adapted or low-power smartphones.
MIUI 10 may be present in the phone as Xiaomi installs it on the majority of its devices. However, Xiaomi Qin 2 features only 1 GB of RAM and runs on the Unisoc SC9832E processor, something suited for entry-level chips. Qin 2 has 32 GB worth of permanent memory with the possibility of expanding through microSD memory cards. It also has a 2100 mAh battery, a USB-C interface, an infrared port to control home appliances, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a separate voice assistant launch button, and a 5 MP main camera.
