Online retail services took a hit amidst the lockdown and the pandemic. Smartphone manufacturers too took the hit rather severely since only essential items are to be delivered to customers.

After almost two months of lockdown, a lot of rules regarding this have been loosened, and items that are not essential in its strict sense are also being delivered through online retail platforms. The deliveries right now are rather slow since most of the warehouses are still closed due to the government-imposed nationwide lockdown.

However, we have seen that now regions are divided and categorized into green, orange, and red zones. The lockdown guidelines are being followed in accordance with the zones. The red zone prohibits deliveries of almost everything, but now that scenario is gradually changing. Xiaomi India tweeted that the company is delivering orders even to red zones now.

The tweet reads, “Redmi fans! Now get your favorite #Redmi smartphones delivered at your home. https://www.mi.com/in/ deliveries are now open even in Red Zones. Order your favorite product now!” It appears that the orders taken from Xiaomi’s official website are only delivering its products to its customers.

Xiaomi had mentioned that even though they have approved deliveries in the red zones, containment zones are still off-limits, and the company will refrain from delivering there as per the government regulations.

This may sound like a step forward towards the “this is the new normal” narrative, and it shows that people are slowly starting to accept the narrative. As that may be, a Xiaomi fan and follower had replied to the same tweet that Xiaomi’s website, while placing the order, offers deliveries only in red and orange zones.

It may be that the website needs to be updated and it may take some time for the developers to do that. Since the news of delivering to red zones came from the official Xiaomi India Twitter handle, it is unlikely that it is a ruse.
