Xiaomi was confirmed to be working on a Mi Pad tablet in October 2017 via a company executive, and after half-a-dozen months we see the device’s next flicker of news. Firmware files were obtained by a Xiaomi tablet with Snapdragon 660, and developers think it is the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4.
Albeit yet to be officially confirmed, the developers have jotted down as many as five points to support their detection. Firstly, the configuration bears the ‘pad’ tag in the way earlier Mi Pad devices have had. Then, the build. prop has its property set to ‘tablet,’ again similar to the Pad handsets of Xiaomi.
They as well point out the big battery capacity that’s of 6,000mAh, something you won’t find in today’s smartphones but tablets, at least so far. The default density screen setting is another indication that it is the next Pad device from Xiaomi. Lastly, Xiaomi’s Android tablets have this far belonged to its Mi Pad series, and the new upcoming device could be the successor to Mi Pad 3.
Concerning other specs, the device is likely to be an 18:9 tablet sporting an LCD display. In a similar context, OLED properties are not there in the build. prop suggests that Xiaomi fans will be missing the OLED display.
The Snapdragon 660 SoC will be clocked at 2.0 GHz. No info yet on RAM or storage is yet revealed, and Mi Pad 4 may not have a microSD card slot either, considering Xiaomi’s non-standard configuration.
The tablet will have a 13 MP single rear camera by OmniVision and a 5 MP front camera from Samsung. Both the camera setups have an aperture of f/2.0. There may not be any support for 4K video recording, but for the portrait mode feature. As per MIUI configurations, Xiaomi’s latest pad will not have NFC support. The device will run Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.
