Xiaomi files patents for 5 pop-up cameras foldable smartphone.

This Xiaomi smartphone is not only foldable, but it also patents to sports 5 motorized pop-up cameras, which is not something we’ve seen this far. Well, we haven’t seen nearly as many pop-up cameras on a single device.

According to documentation issued by CNIPA the first highlight is its folding structure with 5 motorized pop-up cameras of the Xiaomi foldable smartphone. The several sketches shared give us a good look at this device from all sides, except its back.

The device when unfolded, it’s left and right sides are not even. On the left side, the phone will remain a lot thicker than on the right. Only the display and its back cover can be unfolded to the right. Xiaomi Foldable smartphone device folds outwards, like the Huawei Mate X, which means that when folded, its display is on both the front and back sides.

These sketches also suggest that the device will have really thin bezels and no display notch. The patent seems to have been submitted on August 20, and it has been approved and published today.

Additionally, a new patent has also surfaced revealing a new camera design that includes a pop-up selfie camera and a rear square zoom lens. The Xiaomi Foldable Smartphone with 5 pop-up camera patent was first spotted by the Dutch website Let’s Go Digital, which notes that the patent was recently registered by The Hague International Design System.

Recently launched, Mi Note 10 features five cameras, including one with 50x digital zoom and one with 5x optical zoom. It might be that the new patents are ultimately pointing toward the Mi Note 10.
