YouTube Originals will now be offering free viewing services to its members. This new service will take off from September 24, 2019, and will be open to all. However, the viewers will have to sit through and endure online ads. The showtime schedule is not totally convenient.
The YouTube Premium members will be privileged to access all the episodes of a series whereas the non-members will have to wait for the other episodes to release to watch the next episode. YouTube Premium subscribers will also get the option for offline playback, Picture-in-Picture mode (background playback), YouTube Music Premium, and exclusive access to all the original shows posted before September 24.
The Google Support forum explained the privileges as such, the Premium members will get, “Ad-free viewing of YouTube Originals, access to all the available episodes in a series right when they premiere, the ability to download YouTube Originals for offline viewing, and exclusive access to bonus content such as director’s cuts and extra scenes of YouTube Originals when available.”
The shows available for Premium viewing can be singled out by the YouTube Premium badge below the video. However, not all of the original series will be available in all the countries across the world. The availability of such series will vary from region to region. Google Support also mentioned, “Some YouTube Original series, movies, and live events are available for viewing without a YouTube Premium subscription. However, you will see ads during this viewing experience, and only select episodes may be available for streaming at any time.”
The original series will be available for viewing both on the YouTube website and the mobile app. YouTube TV members also will have access to YouTube originals at no additional cost. Shows like ‘A Trip to Unicorn Island,’ ‘Alexander IRL,’ ‘Bad Internet,’ BTS: Burn the Stage’ etc. are available on YouTube Originals.
